Does Monster Hunter rise scale difficulty? ›

Quest Difficulty

Hub Quests have 4 levels of difficulty depending on the number of players, and the difficulty will adapt on the fly as players join or leave. The difficulty is always optimized for the number of players!

Unlike previous Monster Hunter games, in Rise, you can join any Low-Rank Quest (1 to 3-Star in the Gathering Hub) from the start, and most High Rank Quests 4-Star to 7-Star once you're HR4.

Bleeding aside, the Seregios still proves to be one of the toughest, albeit most entertaining, fights of the franchise. It reprises this role in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, adding to the mayhem by appearing in maps like Sandy Plains, where hunters are already at risk of losing health due to heat.

Counter Signals

If a Counter Signal is deployed, it will boost hunters' morale, greatly increasing their attack power. Counter Signals are activated during the Rampage or by sounding a Counter Gong. The effects of a Counter Signal depend on the level of your Stronghold.

Monster Hunter is also way harder in my experience. Dark Souls has a lot of traditional RPG aspects. Different stats affecting health, damage, etc., and the player levels up making stuff easier.

It's a difficult game. It's not *as* difficult as previous monster hunters thanks to the super moves and nigh infinite mobility of silk bugs which set it aside from most of the series, but, it's not like it's easy. It's about rhe same as past MH titles, just that they have much better progression.

Following the April 2021 2.0 update, this raised the cap to HR 999, as with previous Monster Hunter games. The update also saw players automatically start at HR8 once they have reached the end game. From there, you can progress through ranks by earning Hunter Rank points.

S-Rank Hunters are distinguished by the fact that their mana levels are so high that they cannot be measured by mana meter technology. As the vast majority of hunters never reach that level of power, S-Rank Hunters are very rare amongst the human population, with only a handful per country and a few hundred worldwide.

Low rank is from the start of the game up until the game introduces subspecies (it's worked like this in pretty much all MH games). Expeditions, quests and armor sets get separate "high rank" versions. In high rank, monsters are tougher and there are new types and sub-types.

The Longsword IS the best weapon in Monster Hunter Rise full stop and Sunbreak didn't change that. It's not the easiest for new players but is devastating once you master it.

What is the weakest weapon in Monster Hunter Rise? ›

Lance. Widely considered the most underwhelming weapon in Rise, the Lance got a general buff to most of its attacks.

Dual Blades are arguably the most powerful weapon type in the game. Similar to Long Swords, Dual Blades charge up attacks to enter Demon Mode, which raises the attack damage through longer combo chains.

You'll know when it's the right time to attempt to capture a monster when it begins to limp away from you, towards its den. A blue icon will appear below its own icon in the upper righthand corner of the screen (which you can see in the screenshot above.)

Repel using Ballista: Inflict the final shot with a mountable Ballista when repelling a monster. Repel using Cannon: Inflict the final shot with a mountable Cannon when repelling a monster.

Essentially, the more players that are taking on a monster, the more difficult that monster becomes to defeat. This means, if you are tackling a monster on your own, its stats will be far lower than they would be if you were in a party of three or four.

The scaling decreases if people leave unlike previous games. KO, stagger and status resist thresholds also increase with more players. To be precise, Stagger/Part Break, KO and Exhaust thresholds scale as 1x/2x/3x/4x, so just the number of players.

By the way, another change is that the game will automatically scale its difficulty down again should people in your group leave after the hunt scales up to 3 or 4-player difficulty.

It does not, the two values are completely separate variables. Each quest has a specific range that the size can be in, and where in that range it lands is randomized each time you enter that quest. Each monster has a base HP value and each quest has a specific multiplier applied to that value.
